He will pose the question: Modern Media: Who Do You Trust? at Edinburgh Napier’s Craiglockhart Campus at 4.15pm on Friday 23 August.

Ben said:

“It’s a real pleasure to be invited to speak at the Conference. BFBS is a trusted source of news and entertainment for the armed forces community, and we also have our own BFBS Academy which helps veterans transition into the creative industries.

“My presentation will unpack some creative processes and address the importance of critical thinking in today’s world of misinformation and disinformation.”

The Conference has been organised by Edinburgh Napier University’s Centre for Military Research, Education & Public Engagement in partnership with the Scottish Armed Forces Evidence & Research Hub (SAFE&R).

It runs from 22-28 August and will explore a range of subjects from military sociology to art and engagement, to veterans’ affairs.

Professor Gerri Matthews Smith, Director of the Edinburgh Napier’s Centre for Military Research Education and Public Engagement said:

“We are delighted to have the voice of the forces broadcaster to give a keynote at the end of our art and engagement day that looks into the important issue of truth in contemporary media.”
