CEO of Defence Medical Welfare Service to step down
After nearly 7 years as CEO of DMWS, Paul Gaffney has made the decision to step down at the end of March 2024. Paul has driven many achievements over the years, tackling challenges with intelligence, drive, and determination, taking DMWS from a single focus charity to a much more effective and dynamic organisation.
Paul has innovated, educated, and encouraged the development of a robust and dedicated team; through his leadership and personal example, new standards were set, transforming the organisation as a whole. Paul’s business acumen, work ethic and compassion for those we support has meant that, even in the hardest of times, DMWS has delivered to those in need. Paul has always been proud of DMWS colleagues and celebrated their work, professionalism, and commitment to our beneficiaries, which has made DMWS unique and successful in supporting those in need.
The charity has all the key components in place for continued growth and is ready to face any challenges that the future may bring. The Board of Trustees and all members of the DMWS team thank Paul for his exceptional contribution and wish him the best for his retirement.
We are extremely pleased to announce that Abby Dryden, DMWS Operations Director for the last 7 years, will step up as CEO as of April 2024. Abby has been pivotal in the planning, development, and delivery of many of critical changes that have transformed the organisation into the vibrant and dedicated business it is today. We know she will continue to do this with great drive, tenacity, and passion. We now look forward as a team to building the continued success of our exceptional organisation.
