Forces in Mind Trust appoints a new Chief Executive

Forces in Mind Trust (FiMT) is delighted to announce the appointment of Michelle Alston as its next Chief Executive.

Michelle will join the Trust in October 2023 from her previous position as Policy and Research Director at the Army Families Federation. Michelle has worked in several roles across the public and charity sectors and, being part of a serving Army family, understands the opportunities and challenges associated with military life.

Michelle Alston said:

“It is a privilege to be appointed to serve as Chief Executive of the Forces in Mind Trust. I am looking forward very much to building on the already significant impact that the Trust has achieved since it was first established, and to leading FiMT in its work to ensure that the remaining barriers to successful transition to civilian life are fully addressed. It is an exciting time to be joining the Trust and I am grateful for the opportunity.”

Jim Macleod, Chair of FiMT, said:

“We are delighted that Michelle has agreed to join FiMT as our new Chief Executive. Michelle brings with her a wealth of experience from across the sector and is well placed to lead the Trust into the next exciting phase of its life. The Board and staff team are looking forward to working with her.

“I would also like to thank Tom McBarnet, our interim Chief Executive, for his hard work and dedication. Stepping into the position at short notice, it is a huge testament to Tom’s skills and knowledge that he has so ably guided FiMT over the last year. Tom will continue to work as FiMT’s Director of Programmes, working alongside Michelle as we continue to deliver our mission of ensuring that all ex-Service personnel and their families make a successful and sustainable transition to civilian life.”
