New funding to give veterans access to better places, pathways and people
The Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust (the Trust) has launched a new Veterans’ Mental Health and Wellbeing Fund programme, which will work regionally to develop better, more joined up lasting support for local veterans with mental health needs.
The Veterans’ Places, Pathways and People programme will award 10 portfolio grants of up to £800,000, including one each in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, and seven in England. The grants will be made to individual organisations, who will manage a portfolio of projects.
The Trust will be prioritising applications that clearly demonstrate a proven ability to take a co-ordinated and informed approach across their country or region.
Places, Pathways, People
Successful applications will ensure there are connected pathways that work well for veterans, that there are safe places for veterans to go which connect into these pathways, and that volunteers and staff who support veterans have access to training and work closely with other organisations within veterans’ mental health pathways.
Melloney Poole, Chief Executive of the Trust, said:
“Through working together, we anticipate that the sum of the projects within a portfolio will deliver more than the organisations working separately could ever achieve. A strong application will show that the organisational connections that will be made will ensure that veterans with mental health needs have access to effective pathways of care and support in their region; and that they have safe places to go to access support, reduce isolation and support positive mental health.”
Planning your application
This is a complex programme and any organisation that is interested in applying to be a Portfolio Lead should read the programme guidance and other support resources available on the Trust’s website, very carefully.
Initial short applications, setting out an intention to make a full application, need to be submitted to the Trust by 23 July.
